Organization and Operations

The DCC is composed of two museum locations – the Depot and the Visitors Center. The Visitors Center, located at 141 Cherry Street, houses exhibits dedicated to music and art, as well as staff offices. The Depot, a restored railroad depot built in 1912 by the Iron Mountain and Southern Railway located at 95 Missouri Street, is home to the museum’s permanent history exhibits. Centered on the theme “Heritage of Determination,” the exhibits offer visitors an insight into the Arkansas Delta and its people through documents, manuscripts, artifacts and photographs. The DCC has completed renovation of the Miller Hotel, located at 223 Cherry Street. Renovation on the historic Moore-Hornor house, located at the corner of Beech and York streets, will continue through the next few years. Telephone reception for all locations is handled through the main number at (870) 338-4350.

It is the mission of the Delta Cultural Center to research, document, interpret and present the heritage of the people of the Arkansas Delta. This mission is carried out through activities in four areas: The Delta Cultural Center Policy Advisory Board advises the director and staff on the development of permanent and temporary exhibits, a plan for acquisition of resource materials, and development of educational and other programming. The Policy Advisory Board is composed of nine members appointed by the Governor.
